Yachtmaster On-line

This course has been completely revised to cover the latest RYA Syllabus for Coastal/Yachtmaster Offshore and are fully interactive with great animated graphics in order to keep things fun. There are loads of quizzes throughout, giving immediate results in order to enforce the learning experience. Full of click forward click backward animated diagrams, questions with instant answers, feedback and step by step working including chart work that is plotted as you click through it. In addition you have an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Instructor to help if needed.

Priced at £315 for the Coastal/Yachtmaster Offshore the RYA course pack contains course notes, Training Almanac, RYA Training charts, a download link for the RYA plotter simulator, connection to the On-line course and questions. Along with a Portland type plotter and a pair of brass dividers (if required).

Postage is included within the UK and you will receive personal help throughout your course from our fully qualified RYA Instructors.

Your course will not expire until you pass you will never need to buy the course again. Your access last 6 months after which there is a £30 option to renew as many times as you like until you pass. You can also put your course on hold if you go through a patch where you are unable to continue.

Once you have completed and passed your course you have free access to the lessons for two years.

You will be tutored/supported by an experienced RYA St. Thomas More Sailing Instructor working on behalf of Navathome.com. We do not run practical courses so the attention of our instructors is devoted to being available and able to assist you whenever you need it. You are also welcome to come along to our free drop-in sessions at our base here at St. Thomas More Catholic Academy to help with any of the tricker stuff.

The Coastal/Yachtmaster theory course is the level required for RYA Coastal Yachtmaster, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore practical certificates and is a pre course requirement for the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean theory course.

The course is made up of detailed lessons, most of which are animated for easy learning. Each lesson is followed by a set of questions which you can answer online. Once an answer is submitted the feedback is instant in the form of a detailed answer page. Some answers will be forwarded to your instructor who will provide personal feedback and help where required.

• Buoyage and lights, buoyage revision, dipping distance and light characteristics.
• Electronic navigation, GPS Basics, using navigation webs, using cross track error, using depth sounders, radar and chart navigation systems.
• Meteorology, weather Information, reading synoptic charts, global weather systems, low pressure systems, local weather effects, sea breeze, fog and divergence and convergence.
• Collision regulations, general regulations, lights, shapes, sound signals, underway, making way and collision avoidance.

The assessment can be taken On-line or at a participating training centre. If your certificate is for commercial use then the assessment can be invigilated by a professional person.
